This lock was designed by me in the early 1990's to keep my younger kids out of my older kids rooms when they were not home. When the older two children were away, my younger two children would go in and play with their older siblings toys. Then my older kids would complain about their younger brother and sister going in the room and getting into their stuff. One day at work I started to try to figure out what I could do to solve this problem. I needed a lock that would allow my order 2 kids to keep the younger 2 kids out of their room, but that would still allow my wife and I to get into the room at any time.

As A Machinist, I started creating a design. The first design was out of aluminum that required tightening the part with a screw up against the door. It went over the top of the door just like the product of today. It took too much work to lock and unlock the door. Going back to my design I started working with some plastic. This made a much better product that I then designed to work from both sides of the door. Now I had an easy to install product that worked for my family for years.
Over the years I toyed with the idea of making this product available for other families to use. I decided that this product was so helpful to my family that I wanted to make it available for others to use as well.
